7/13/2017 Finally some work done.....

I cannot believe it has been close to 5 years since I started this project, and it still sits languishing waiting to be finished.... I finally got this box for the display base finished, and a cheesecake donated the bubble top cover I've been needing for so long! Time to start sanding, work on wall mounts for it, and get the bridge finished!

My "cheese cake" lid worked out good for the see thru top!

Soldering away on one of the many LED's in the floor lighting. I love my new Weller soldering station. [that's an X-Acto in my mouth, not some wierd smoking device!]

Heat shrink is carefully sleeved onto EVERY connection that's soldered. Shorting out dozens of LED's is NOT an option!

This control board was built by David Uresti. It has two outputs that blink. Those lower dials control the blink rate of each port, speed and type of pulse. These will simulate the "red alert" lights on the walls and the helm control panel. David sells thes on ebay at a very affordable price!

Here you can see one of the "red alert" on the wall above the board. The tape is a temporary hold while the silicone sets.

The boards are removable from the Plastruct channel I made to hold them.

Pro 4 board from VoodooFx

Back to work. I cut some rectangular tubing to length, then used my saw blade to cut it down the middle and make a holder for the wiring panel.

This is one of (4) VoodooFx Pro 4 boards which neatly organizes all of the wiring going to each LED. 330ohm resistors soften the light a bit for a bit more realistic look.

Each wire out has it's own resistor.

Here, the board is inserted into the holder which has been mounted onto one of the walls. It can be easily removed for repair access if needed.

3M tape holds the LED's in position while the silicone cures. Later, the wires will be neatly bundled with mini tie straps.

Each drawer is color coded for the colors of the LED's. Upper row drawers house 1.5 & 3.0, second row 4.8 & 5.0 diameter lights.

I keep a good supply of LED's in stock for my projects. Being organized helps make my work much easier.

Lower drawers house power sources, diffusion materials, switches, and control boards among other supplies.
